Suicide Prevention Month is a time to recognize the importance of mental health and to bring awareness to resources and services that can help save lives — our own and of those around us.

Suicide is a serious public health problem that can have lasting harmful effects on individuals, families, and communities. Unfortunately, no one is immune — raising the need for awareness.

There are many factors that contribute to suicide. The goal of suicide prevention is to minimize the risk and promote resilience. However, there is still a stigma surrounding it and, with suicide rates increasing, it still means that help is not reaching people on time.

We have a long way to go, and this month opens the conversation.

  • Share any mental and wellness activities your company may be holding during the month.
  • Include hotlines and other support programs around where your company is located.
  • Allow employees to share their own personal experiences in a webinar or your communication platform throughout the month — breaking the stigma and raising awareness that people are not alone.
